Universal Citywalk After Hour Social

7:00pm

After Mr. Alfonso's closing remarks, we insist that everyone join us for a great social opportunity at Universal Studio's CityWalk. We plan on leaving Tuscan I & II and walk down the halls of Portofino Bay Hotel together, head out towards the festive harbor piazza and await our 8 - 10 minute water taxi ride over to CityWalk.

BOB MARLEY'S
Most visitors to Bob Marley -- A Tribute to Freedom at CityWalk think the King of Reggae would approve of the house built in his name. From the tiled roof to the green wooden shutters, it's a replica of his home in Jamaica and members of the Marley family gave personal guidance throughout its design. The result is a laid-back atmosphere paying tribute to Marley and the idea of One Love -- the merging of social justice, racial harmony and the resilience of the human spirit -- that is the underlying theme throughout his music. Deep issues aside, it's also a pretty sweet place to chill out with a Jamaican Red Stripe lager and take in some of the live entertainment on the open-air courtyard's gazebo stage. Live reggae music is featured nightly, with well-known national acts rounding out a lineup of favorite local bands. It's the perfect music if you've got two left feet, as all the crowd seems to do motionwise is sway to the hypnotic rhythms. There are plenty of rumified drinks flowing, and Caribbean snacks on offer include jerk chicken-on-a-stick and Jamaican patties. After 10PM it's 21 and up only, and the mix includes local reggae fans as well as frolicking tourists looking to interpret One Love in their own, special way.

CITY JAZZ
Despite Universal's claim that this joint "is always jumping," the appeal of CityJazz at CityWalk is its low-key, sophisticated atmosphere featuring live jazz acts in a stylish setting. The spacious, low-lit room has tiered seating so that every cozy booth and intimate table allows an excellent view of the stage. Live music is featured nightly -- everything from legendary musicians to local acts -- depending on who's performing.

In addition to a full bar, a range of cigars are also offered, as well as light snacks. During intermission, check out the club's extensive collection of jazz memorabilia -- including Glenn Miller's first trombone, a piano that belonged to Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis' high school diploma. Karaoke fans can strut their best singing voices on Saturday's during the 'Ultimate Karaoke Party,' which kicks off at 8:45PM - with plenty of unabashed tourists as takers, there are bound to be voices worse than yours in the crowd.CityJazz is decorated in a mix of natural wood with a purple and green decor. A montage of jazz stars fills one wall. Glass cases show jazz memorabilia.
