We've now spent a week in our new
classrooms, and I think we all agree they are wonderful.
Because it's all too easy to allow the quality of new buildings
to deteriorate, we must begin now to work together to maintain
these facilities. Indeed, I believe we owe this not only
to those whose leadership and generosity made this space
possible but also to the generations of students, faculty
and staff who will use these facilities in the future. The
following initial policies with regard to building use are
intended to achieve that goal.
As the year progresses,
the Facilities Committee, which will have representation
from both students and faculty, will have the opportunity
to review these policies and may make recommendations about
changing them. Until that occurs, however, these policies
govern facilities use at the College of Law.
I hope all of us can work together
to set an example for the rest of the campus in how to maintain
and care for our facilities. Thank you in advance for your
cooperation and support.
