University of Costa Rica, San Jose, Costa Rica

June 17 – July 22, 2013

The exchange program with the University of Costa Rica is the most recent addition to UF Law’s full-semester study abroad opportunities.

The beautifully landscaped Universidad de Costa Rica is located in San Pedro on the outskirts of San Jose, the nation’s capital. There are also eight Regional Campuses throughout the country.

The UCR has 30,000 students enrolled in five major academic areas: Arts and Letters, Basic Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, and Health. These areas are divided into Colleges, Schools and Departments, Research Centers and Institutes. The Graduate Studies System offers masters and doctorate degrees in a variety of academic fields. The Faculty of Law has 2,000 students who attend classes in a six-story building containing a law library, bookstore, copy center and cafeteria.

The regular academic year has two semesters. The first semester starts in the last week of February and ends in the last week of June. The second semester starts early August and ends in the first week of December.

Through UF Law’s student exchange with UCR, you may be a “visiting student” and take courses with the purpose of transferring the credits back to UF Law. You must be proficient in Spanish and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. You may remain up to two semesters at UCR, all the while earning credits towards your UF Law degree.
