Admissions
Transfer Procedures
Students attending a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) may apply for transfer or to visit the Levin College of Law. There are specific requirements and deadlines for each type of applicant. All transfer candidates are required to be in good standing at their current institution and their academic rank is in the upper third or higher after completion of the required first-year, full-time curriculum. Applicants who have received law degrees from another institution or bachelor’s degrees in conjunction with a law program are not eligible for transfer. Transfer credit will not be awarded for correspondence courses or for work not done in residence at an ABA-accredited law school. UF Law will transfer no more than 29 semester hours of credit.
Upon receipt of a completed application, the Admissions Committee will evaluate transfer requests based on the following:
- Space availability
- Admission standards for non-transfer candidates
- Applicant's current law school record
- Applicant’s reasons for requesting a transfer
Applicants must submit the all required materials by the cited deadlines.
IMPORTANT DEADLINES FOR TRANSFER
All required data must be received by the Admissions Office no later than the published file completion deadlines. Any deadline falling on a weekend or holiday automatically moves forward to the next business day.

GENERAL ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES
1. UF Law LSAC Electronic Application
All transfer/visitor candidates are required to complete and submit the UF Law application form electronically via LSAC, as UF Law requires that all candidates use this method. Within 10 working days of submitting your UF Law LSAC Electronic Application, you will receive an e-mail acknowledgment from UF Law. The e-mail is not generated automatically, but created once we access your application from LSAC.
This acknowledgment e-mail will provide you with separate instructions for the UF Supplemental Data Form, Residency Form, and application fee payment. Only call if you have not received an e-mail acknowledgement of your application after the 2-week period.
CAUTION: Saving your LSAC electronic application does not formally submit the application. To avoid technical difficulties while transmitting your application, do not file at the deadline.
2. LSDAS Law School Report
By applying through the UF LSAC electronic application process, your report is automatically requested and included with your application.
3. Additional personal information
On the UF Law application, candidates are requested to provide information in regards to disciplinary actions and/or criminal incidents. Questions C1 and C2 on the application require candidates to report any disciplinary action taken against them at any college or university (C1), and/or warning, academic probation, suspension, and expulsion (C2). Question C3 asks about specific violations of law.
Applicants answering “yes” to any question MUST attach an explanation for each response and provide official documentation from the college/ university, or court, documenting the final disposition of each occurrence.
NOTE: It is the responsibility of the candidate to provide all documentation for each “yes” response. Any student uncertain about their academic and/or disciplinary history should not trust their memory, but should contact Student Judicial Affairs at each college or university attended for information. (Current or former UF students should contact Student Judicial Affairs at 202 Peabody Hall, P.O. Box 114075, Gainesville, FL 32611, phone 352-392-1261).
4. Statement to the Admissions Committee and Resume
Applicants must submit a statement relating reasons for wanting to attend UF Law. This Statement should only focus on your law school academic experience and not to exceed four double-spaced pages in a font no smaller than 12 pts. In addition, all applicants are required to submit a professional resume, which should include specific, factual information about items such as education, honors and awards, extracurricular or community activities, publications, work history, military service and/or foreign language proficiencies. Please define time frame(s) and be as detailed as possible.
5. Transfer Certification Forms
In addition to the materials listed in the general admissions procedures, applicants must submit the transfer certification form. This form must be completed by your law school and sent directly to UF Law Admissions by the cited file completion deadline. The form must be accompanied by your official law school transcript. Note: Courses in progress will not be considered for transfer students. Courses must be completed at the time of application and final grades posted on transcripts, as grades for those courses must be evaluated by the committee.
