Annual Fund
Every Gift Makes a Difference. Thank you.
Consider this…
You might wonder what difference your single $100 or $1000 gift to the college can make. We are often asked, “Why does my annual gift matter?”
If just half of the law school alumni who do NOT give each year simply gave $100 annually, it would have the same impact on the law school’s budget as a new $21 MILLION DOLLAR ENDOWMENT!* (see graphic below).
Your Annual Fund Dollars…
…help bring top legal academics to campus as part of UF Law’s faculty colloquium series. The series gives UF Law faculty the opportunity to engage with other scholars, foster relationships with other institutions, and ultimately be better scholars and teachers. Thank you for helping to make our faculty the best they can be and in turn giving our students access to excellence in scholarship and pedagogy.
…help support moot court competitions. The Florida Moot Court Team, governed by the Justice Campbell Thornal Executive Board, is devoted to excellence in appellate advocacy and is one of the Picture of competition foremost national moot court teams. They are able to compete in or team over a dozen tournaments each year because of your help. In addition, each year there are students who self-organize to participate in various specific topic moot court competitions that may not be in the annual budget of the co-curricular. The more success these groups have, the more dollars they need to advance in competitions. You make their success and unique experiences possible.
…are sometimes used to supplement awards from partial scholarship endowments. Thank you for your help in reducing the debt load for our students.
… were recently used to purchase several defibrillators now distributed through the College’s campus. Thank you for helping to keep our students, faculty, staff, and visitors safe.
…support the University of Florida’s Trial Team. The Trial Team’s goals are to train future advocates and represent the Levin College of Law with excellence. This spring the trial team went undefeated in every round of the National Criminal Trial Competition in San Antonio, Texas, bringing home the national title. The team would not be able to compete without annual support.
…help support the Gator TeamChild Juvenile Law Clinic. Children are rarely able to advocate effectively for themselves. Gator TeamChild provides lawyers for vulnerable children while training skilled attorneys to provide legal services for children across the nation and world.
…are used to support the Public Interest Environmental Conference. Every spring UF Law hosts a three day conference devoted to discussing current issues affecting Florida’s natural environment. The conference enables a broad range of participants to meet and exchange ideas, from government and private practitioners to environmental professionals to the interested public.
The Environmental and Land Use Law Program is committed to experiential learning and to providing opportunities to get students out of the classroom for issue-based field experiences. Student in the Program’s Conservation Clinic help clients in the governmental non-governmental and private sectors pursue conservation objectives through law and policy, often on a pro bono basis. The program provides fellowships to Clinic students to spend summers working in-house with organizations the Clinic works with. UF Law’s current field course offerings include the Costa Rica Program, where students are exposed to the legal and policy dynamics of “sustainable development,” the Spring Break Marine and Coastal Law Field Course at UF’s Whitney Lab on Florida’s East Coast, and the South Florida Ecosystems Course, where law students join graduate students on an issue-based tour of the Florida Everglades and its surrounding communities. These programs demand a small class size and considerable external resources to organize and fund field travel and related logistics.
