In recent months there have been several high-profile race-related incidents. These include Mel Gibson’s anti-Semitic tirade, Michael Richard’s “N-word” rant, Rosie O’Donnell’s “comedic” caricature of Asians, and more serious cases involving fatal undercover police shootings (Sean Bell and Kathryn Johnston).

The Center for the Study of Race and Race Relations will host a panel and keynote discussion on race. Panelists include Professors’ Milagros Pena (sociology), Faye Harrison (anthropology), Kenneth Nunn (law), and Yuko Fujino (sociology).

Jabari Asim, a syndicated columnist for The Washington Post and author of The N Word Who Can Say It, Who Shouldn’t and Why will give the keynote.
