Program student Kevin Regan (2 UF LAW), former EPA adminstrator Carol Browner, former National Parks Director Alvaro Umaña, and Program faculty member Richard Hamann prepare for a field trip to Corcovado National Park, pictured here.

Kevin Regan (U. of Fla.) worked with Costa Rican biology student Lily Paniagua (CEDARENA) under the auspices of the Corcovado Foundation and the CR-USA Foundation on a nomination to UNESCO to designate the Corcovado National Park as a natural world heritage site under the World Heritage Convention. The project was based on a proposal drafted by 2001 Program students with the assistance of UF graduate student Franklin Paniagua and CEDARENA attorney and University of Costa Rica Program Faculty Maria Jimenez. The nomination has been approved by the government of Costa Rica for submission to UNESCO.
