Waterway Law & Administration

Marine and inland waters usage has grown dramatically with population in Florida and other coastal areas, resulting in conflicts among ecological, recreational and commercial requirements. Many of the management issues faced by blue water managers require unique and previously untested policy approaches to reconcile these competing interests. In a project funded by Florida SeaGrant College, The Center for Governmental Responsibility at the College of Law has been actively involved in the design of management systems for anchorages in Southwest Florida. The reports below were prepared by CGR staff and student researchers prior to the establishment of the Conservation Clinic. In the future the Conservation Clinic can build on this expertise and support initiatives involving coastal and waterway management.
