Florida Scenic Highways Designation for U.S. Route 441: The Eligibility Phase

This requires the formation of a Corridor Advocacy Group (CAG) that will serve as the applicant. Sustainable Alachua County and its Marion County counterpart would serve as the CAG. The CAG is responsible for preparing and acquiring all required documentation for the Eligibility and Designation Application Forms. They work in conjunction with the FDOT District Scenic Highways Coordinator (DSHC), who offers training couses on each phase of the process, and also advises them on the content of the application forms. The Eligibility Application Form requires a significant amount of background data on the road corridor. In addition, the CAG must develop both a vision and a series of goals for the corridor. If, after submitting the Eligibility Application Form, the corridor is determined by the Department of Transportation to be eligible for scenic designation, then the CAG moves on to the Designation Phase.
