The Depot Avenue Ecodevelopment Project

In the Fall of 2000, the Clinic worked with the UF Center for the Construction and the Environment in an analysis of state and local policy tools to implement a brownfield redevelopment vision for a traditionally disadvantaged area of downtown Gainesville, Florida. The Clinic offered a number of recommendations designed to implement the project team's redevelopment vision including redrawing the Community Redevelopment District to include the brownfield and its contiguous neighborhoods, taking advantage of new legislation designed to encourage urban infill and affordable housing, as well as appropriate land use and zoning changes.
