Green Building Initiative The built environment has become a focus of technological and policy innovation in environmental sector. Green building programs encompass energy efficieny, materials use and recycling, water conservation, landscape considerations and indoor air quality. A number of progressive local governments have begun to embrace policies designed to encourage green building through incentives, regulations and certification programs such as EPA's energy star and the LEED rating system of the U.S. Green Building Council. More recently the Florida Green Building Coalition has adopted its own certification standard. |
