Conservation Law J.D. Summer Fellowships

The UF Environmental and Land Use Law Program and Conservation Clinic invite applications for ELUL J.D. Summer fellowships. Fellowships are awarded to J.D. students who either have enrolled in the Conservation Clinic or commit to enroll in it for at least one semester after completion of the fellowship placement. Fellows must demonstrate exceptional commitment to and achievement in environmental and land use law. Fellows enhance their applied education in a suitable placement during the summer following their second or third year (which may be an externship for credit or another placement approved by the selection committee) working on environmental and land use law projects of relevance to the Conservation Clinic. The J.D. Fellow receives a grant of $ 2,500. The deadline for applications for Summer 2012 is January 31, 2012.

Environmental and Land Use Law J.D. Minority Fellowships

The UF Environmental and Land Use Law Program invites applications for the ELUL J.D. Minority Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to a minority law student who has demonstrated interest in environmental or land use law or any law student who has distinguished himself or herself through excellent academic achievement and has demonstrated interest in the impact of environmental or land use law on racial or ethnic minority groups or historically disadvantaged populations.

As part of the Fellowship, the selected student will be placed either in an environmental externship for credit, an unpaid internship, or as a research assistant to a UF faculty member conducting research on environmental or land use law. Students may apply for and secure a placement on their own (through the UF externship program or otherwise) or they may apply for the fellowship and, if selected, the Program Director will assist them in identifying and securing an appropriate placement.

Completion of the placement is a requirement for the Fellowship recipient. The duration of externship or internship placements will generally be at least 8 weeks /40 hour per week for summer placements. Part-time placements during the semester may be allowed if available, with the approval of the ELULP Director. Prior to commencing the placement, the student will participate in a pre-placement orientation covering topics relevant to the placement. The ELUL Minority Fellow will receive a grant of $2,000. The deadline for applications for Summer 2012 is January 31, 2012.
