Brief Biography
D. Daniel Sokol joined the faculty in 2008. Previously, he was a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Missouri School of Law and a William H. Hastie Fellow at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Prior to academia, Sokol was in private practice in Washington and Miami.
Professor Sokol immigrated to the United States from Latin America as a child. English was his third language. This may be surprising given how quickly he speaks (yes, he does read his teaching evaluations). Professor Sokol became a US citizen in 1994, which meant that when he married his wife, it was for love and not the green card.
Professor Sokol has taught: Antitrust, Business Organizations, Contracts, Corporations, Law and Economics, UCC Payment Systems, and UCC Sales. In summer 2009 Professor Sokol will be a visiting professor at the Catholic University of Chile, where he will teach a mini-course on Comparative and International Antitrust. In the 2009-10 academic year, he will teach Corporations (Fall), Business Organizations (Spring), and Law and Entrepreneurship (Spring).
