Biography

Professor John Stinneford teaches and writes about Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Constitutional Law. His scholarship on the Cruel and Unusual Punishments Clause has been published in leading law journals including the Virginia Law Review and the Northwestern University Law Review. His work has been selected for inclusion in the Stanford/Yale Junior Faculty Forum and has won Call for Papers competitions sponsored by the American Association of Law Schools Criminal Justice Section and by the Southeastern Association of Law Schools. Professor Stinneford received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A. from the University of Virginia. Prior to joining the University of Florida, he practiced criminal law in Chicago as an associate at Winston & Strawn and as an Assistant United States Attorney. He brings several years of prior law teaching experience to his current position at the University of Florida.
