Professor Lyrissa Lidsky’s article, “Silencing John Doe: Defamation and Discourse in Cyberspace,” was recently published in the Duke Law Journal. She has been working pro bono with the ACLU to formulate legal strategies for curbing a recent rash of defamation suits designed to intimidate Internet message board users into silence by stripping them of their anonymity. On Sept. 20, she will present oral arguments in the Third District Court of Appeal in a case testing the scope of the right to speak anonymously on-line. She also is writing a book review of A Law of Her Own for The Jurist and a reference work on freedom of the press with her co-author, R. George Wright.
