Moot Court Final Four Competitor Biographies

AronovitzCary Aronovitz — Petitioner
Cary Aronovitz was born and raised in Miami, Fla. He attended the University of Michigan where he graduated with high honors for completing a history thesis. Following school, Aronovitz worked in Washington, D.C. as a paralegal specialist for the Department of Justice, Tax Division. He is interested in litigation and using his law degree for the betterment of the community. Aronovitz dedicates this achievement, like all others in his life, in memory of his mother, Leslee Aronovitz. Finally, it is a great source of pride that he can further his family's judicial legacy in the State of Florida. That legacy includes his grandfather, Judge Sidney Aronovitz (JD 43), and his father, attorney Tod Aronovitz.

CombestKevin Combest — Petitioner
Kevin Combest grew up traveling around the world as part of an Army family. During his undergraduate education at UF, Combest scraped funds together by singing and playing guitar at Grog House and Gator City. After graduating with honors with a political science degree, Combest moved to Washington, D.C. to write for Human Events. Here at the Levin College of Law, Combest is a member of the Business Law Journal and has received recognition on the Dean’s List. "I'm absolutely astonished that only one year of UF Law has given me the opportunity to argue before such a towering figure as Chief Justice Roberts. I am, and will always be, profoundly thankful for that," he said.

Davis Rob Davis — Respondent
Born and raised in Ocala, Fla., Rob Davis attended the University of Florida and received degrees in both political science and health science. After graduation, Davis worked for the Business Software Alliance and March of Dimes in Washington, D.C. before returning to attend law school. This summer, Davis served as an intern for the 5th Circuit in Ocala. Now in his second year at the Levin College of Law, Davis is interested in pursuing a career in litigation and health care law. Davis would like to thank his family and friends for their encouragement and support throughout his time at UF Law. "I greatly appreciate the opportunity to argue before such a distinguished panel of judges. It is not only a tremendous honor, it is also an experience that I will remember throughout my legal career. I would like to thank the University of Florida Levin College of Law for making this opportunity a reality."

Nelson Tara Nelson — Respondent
Tara Nelson is from Orlando, Fla. She completed her undergraduate degree in 2007 with a major in environmental studies and a minor in sociology at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. During the summer of 2008, Nelson completed an externship with The Nature Conservancy in Altamonte Springs, Fla. She is a member of the Florida Law Review and a teaching assistant for the first-year Legal Research & Writing and Appellate Advocacy courses. Upon graduation, Nelson would like to pursue a career in litigation. "I am incredibly honored to participate in this competition in front of such a distinguished panel. I never thought that I would have the chance to argue before Chief Justice John Roberts in my entire career, let alone as a law student. I would like to thank the University of Florida Levin College of Law and the members of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Board for this amazing opportunity," she said.

Galluzzo Vincent Galluzzo — Alternate
Vincent Galluzzo was born in Orlando, Fla., and has lived in the Orlando area for most of his life. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in computer engineering from UF in 2007. During the summer of 2008, Vincent worked at asmall litigation firm in Orlando. He plans to use his undergraduate major after law school by practicing patent law. Vincent has traveled extensively in his 23 years and his two month stay in Florence, Italy during the summer of 2007 is his most memorable.
