Remote Interviewing Opportunities: Judges and Law Firms

remote

Expanding your career opportunities is one of the goals of the Center for Career Services, so we are pleased to offer another valuable resource in your job search. Through a generous gift from alum Andy Fawbush (LeBoeuf Lamb in Jacksonville) and his wife, Lynn, UF Law has video interviewing capabilities for those times when employers across the country wish to conduct your interview remotely via videocam.

Additionally, we have partnered with Law School Connect (LSC) to further assist you in attaining your employment goals. LSC is a nationwide remote interviewing network providing videoconferencing services to law schools for legal recruiting through law firm sponsorships. LSC’s membership includes law schools, law firms, legal non-profits, public service agencies and courts for judicial clerkships. What does this mean to you? It has provided Career Services with a second video interviewing set up that provides you with the opportunity to interview via videoconferencing without the travel and time away from your classes. This is particularly relevant in the case of federal judicial clerkship interviews because judges have free access to the network.

For a complete list of participating LSC members, including numerous courts and law firms, see http://www.lawschoolconnect.com.

How does it work? Interviewing using videoconferencing is the wave of the future in law firms. Your cover letter is one of the best places to let legal employers know you can accommodate them with a videoconference interview. Or, when you are approached by a law firm or other legal employer about interviewing, consider suggesting the option of videoconferencing. It provides them with greater flexibility in scheduling and saves them money at the same time. All scheduling of video interviewing is coordinated by Career Services, so contact us once you have a date in mind. We look forward to helping you meet your career goals.
