Career Services: Get to Know Symplicity—It's Not Just for On Campus Interviews

Symplicity is our online database used to manage our On-Campus Interview (OCI) program. When you log in to Symplicity, you will immediately see important OCI deadlines and information. Symplicity allows students to "bid" for and schedule interviews with OCI employers.

Don't mistakenly presume that Symplicity is helpful only to those students participating in OCI. Symplicity can be used as a useful tool in any job search. Read on to learn more about Symplicity and how it can help you.

Job Bank

Symplicity contains our online job bank. CCS receives numerous job listings every day. We post them all in Symplicity under the "CSMJobs" section of the "jobs" tab. On any given day you can find in Symplicity a variety of posted jobs in a variety of locations. You can filter the posted jobs by application deadline, position type (permanent, part time, etc.), class level requested by the employer, practice area, or you can run a “keywords” search for the city or state of your preference.

Keep in mind that employers send us notice of job openings specifically looking for applicants from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Most of the job listings in the "CSMJobs" section of the "jobs" tab are thus specifically targeting you.

Each posting will contain specific information about how to apply. Take special care to follow the instructions from each employer as they are not always the same.

Make a point of visiting the online job bank contained in Symplicity regularly. Posted needs are often immediate needs. By consistently checking what's new in Symplicity, you will be sure not to miss out on potential jobs.

Calendar

Symplicity is also a useful tool CCS uses to provide important information to students. When you log in to Symplicity, you will see important announcements immediately on the homepage. Pay attention to this page. It changes regularly. It not only includes important OCI updates, but also updates covering a host of topics for those looking beyond OCI, too.

Symplicity also contains a calendar function by which you can manage your personal schedule and CCS can post important deadlines, upcoming programs and events, and other announcements. If you click on the "calendar" tab and look at the month view, you will see that we have posted our upcoming programs, OCI and job fair deadlines, and various fellowship and diversity initiative deadlines. We try to get information out to students in a variety of ways. You are a large student body with diverse opinions as to how you want to receive information from us. We will consistently include important programming information and deadlines on the Symplicity calendar. If you check the calendar regularly, you won’t miss important events.

Research Employers

The employer tab in Symplicity contains information on every employer that has interviewed on campus or has posted a job with the CCS. Eighty percent of all current job openings are not advertised. You can thus research employers through Symplicity and send out a targeted mailing to those in which you are interested. Symplicity will allow you to search for employers by keywords, employer type, or practice area. It will let you know if the employer has or will be participating in OCI, and whether a posted job opening exists. Where website or contact information has been provided to us, it will also be available to you in the employer tab.

Symplicity is meant to make everyone's job search simple. Use it regularly to check for OCI updates, non-OCI job postings, employer information, and upcoming career services programming and deadline information.

As a 1L, Symplicity (law-ufl-csm@symplicity.com) emailed you your username and password. If you have misplaced this information, please email careers@law.ufl.edu and a new password will be sent to you. Please thoroughly check for messages from law-ufl-csm@symplicity.com for your username and password prior to contacting us as it was previously sent to all of you.

1Ls

Do not contact the Center for Career Services yet for your username and password. You will receive it from law-ufl-csm@symplicity.com. Once you are able to log in, you will have limited access to Symplicity until Nov. 1 when NALP guidelines allow you to start researching employers. Until then, get familiar with the “calendar” tab and in the habit of regularly checking in with Symplicity for important information.
