    Ankersen presented a paper titled, “The New Normative? The Role of Sustainability in Higher Education and at the University of Florida” at the annual meeting of the Association of Environmental Studies & Sciences in Madison, Wisconsin. The paper is based on his final report to the Provost as 2008-2009 Faculty Fellow for Sustainability. The report makes recommendations that are now under consideration by a group of UF faculty under the auspices of the UF School of Natural Resources and the Environment.

    Davis spoke on selected ethical issues for bankruptcy lawyers at the annual seminar of the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association at the Sawgrass Marriott hotel. The Gator football team stayed in the same hotel that evening. The players’ enthusiasm for bankruptcy law was minimal. “Perhaps,” Davis said, “the players were distracted.”

    Fasig outlined in an op-ed piece the scientific reasons why the U.S. Supreme Court should find juveniles given life without parole cruel and unusual punishment.

    Little told the St. Pete Times that to demand President Obama to ask for Congressional permission to except the Nobel Peace Prize, “a real stretch.” Joe Little, a constitutional law expert at the University of Florida, agreed. "It's a real stretch."

    Others expressed concern that Conway's opposition could raise thorny questions of civilian control over the military. "The President has declared which way policy is heading," said Professor Diane Mazur. "There is no faster way for a Commander-in-Chief to lose the respect of those serving under him than to allow his Service Chiefs to march in an opposite direction."
