This list and descriptions of vendors and third party providers providing electronic public access to courts is intended to provide a quick reference of the major players providing Electronic Public Access of Court Records. It is not intended to be a comparison of vendors nor a comparison of features and services of the vendors.

CaseStream gets its data from PACER and provides electronic public access to most U.S. federal district courts and the Delaware Court of Chancery via a database on the web. CaseStream has four  products available: “Alert!,” “Historical,” and “DocketDirect,” and “Delaware Chancery.” 

CaseStream monitors same day filings. Each day, between 10:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., CaseStream  software polls each of the U.S. district courts on the PACER system or those courts with other electronic access, and downloads information about each new filing into its database. CaseStream  also downloads docket and other information that one or more of its customers have requested to track. CaseStream Alert! provides information about each case that matches the user’s pre-defined selection of type(s), court(s), judge(s), litigant(s), class actions, law firm(s) and lawyer(s) and sends the information requested to the user via email.

CaseStream Historical - through the Web, a searchable database of 2M dockets for researching judge’s previous rulings, opposing counsel’s previous positions, litigation history of a party, etc. Searches criteria for type, court, judge, litigant, class action, law firm and lawyer.
$.25 per case found with a$5 minimum; $3 to view a docket from the database, and an additional $2 for an up-to-minute copy from the court.

CaseStream DocketDirect - through the web, docket brought up immediately
$3 to view a docket from the database, and an additional $2 for an up-to-minute copy from the court.

CaseStream Delaware Chancery - through the web, the ability to track and search a database or case for this very active corporate litigation court.
$.25 per cases tracked, $1 to view dockets.

CourtExpress gets it data from PACER, and provides electronic public access to most U.S. federal district and bankruptcy courts. Information provided is a listing of cases, docket sheets, which include party, judge, attorney and a listing of all items filed in a specific case. CourtExpress also provides searching from the U.S. Party Case Index from three files: civil, criminal and bankruptcy. CourtExpress is available through the Internet and provides e-mail notification alerts when your search is completed. A recurring search feature tracks cases. CourtExpress automatically returns search results to the user’s results page.

Search fees are $5 per result. Users are not charged if CourtExpress is unable to connect to a court for any reason and the users do not receive results. Recurring users are billed $200 per account for a yearly administrative fee and can have unlimited number of users on one account. Those users without an account are charged $10 each for each search. If you order documents from any court, each court has a pricing screen that will tell you on the order confirmation page the cost of documents before you order.

CourtLink gets its data from PACER, RACER and individual courts, and provides electronic public access to U.S. federal district and bankruptcy courts as well as state and local courts. CourtLink assists courts in providing electronic public access to their records. A proprietary Windows-based on-line service, the “CourtLink Network” provides real-time or current access to more than 700 federal, state, and local courts nationwide. There is typically no cost to the court for this service. CourtLink is also available through WestLaw.

For a nationwide search, CourtLink is much easier than individually dialing up every U.S. district court, which anyone can do for 60 cents a minute by using PACER directly. CourtLink accesses all of PACER, so if you want to search every court in the country, you can do it in one click. It has an initial subscription fee, then charges $1.63 per minute. There is no monthly minimum.

Uses for CourtLink include: background checks (including charges, convictions, and repeat offense patterns), litigation history (including types of cases, judgments, case status, amounts of judgments, names of parties and their representatives), document discovery (including kinds of documents filed, day-to-day listing of all documents), and case management (including case event schedule, court calendars, fees and payment records).

Focused on the business of government, SCT is a global provider of court products and services. “SCT’s Banner CourtConnect” uses the Internet to provide a secure environment for immediate public access to a court’s public information. Attorneys, members of the public, and businesses such as title and credit reporting agencies can view public information remotely, completely unaided by court personnel. 

For the end user, CourtConnect requires no special hardware or software. All you need is Internet access and a browser. Based on Oracle web technology, CourtConnect maintains data security while giving the public a reliable connection to court information. CourtConnect’s robust technology provides access to live or replicated data. 

CourtConnect provides public access to public records. It’s a simple cost-effective, timesaving way to disseminate information about cases, case activities, parties, schedules, and judgements. Users have the flexibility to search by individual name, company name, or case ID. 

CourtConnect works specifically with the SCT BANNER Courts Case Management System.

Wade Systems Inc. provides complete case management, document imaging, Internet-based remote public access, and electronic filing for the federal court system. The software is Web-based and requires Windows NT on the server, Windows on the client with a Web browser, and Internet connectivity for remote public access and electronic filing.

The RACER (“Remote Access to Court Electronic Records”) Module is designed for users who are external to the court. It handles searching in a secure manner, and interfaces with PACER for user ID's and billing information. RACER works directly with the court case management system to give both in-court and out-of-court users access to data and images.
