Photography FAQs

Where is the Communications Office located?
287 Holland Hall; Second floor down the hall from the Dean Suite.

What events do you cover?
All law school-related events that pertain to the external promotion of the Levin College of Law. See main photography page for more specifics.

How do I know if my photo request meets your priority?
We will support projects that advance the image of the law school to its external audiences. Priorities include:

What are the specifics for a publication photo?
A minimum 4x6 inches at 300 dpi/ppi. You can not force a photo to meet the requirements if it is already too small in size and resolution.

Are there other considerations if I get an image off the web?
Yes. Images on the web are low resolution and will not reproduce well in printed publications. We can help you determine if a higher quality version of the image is required and help you get it. Remember photos on the web are protected by copyright law. There could be legal ramifications if you take an image from someone else’s site. We will not publish a photo in your publication without permission from the photographer.

Do you make student, staff or faculty ID’s or passport photos?
Students should contact the student union for all ID’s. For faculty and staff, ONLY, if we are available we can offer our services for your passport photo.

Can you process print film or slides?
No. We are all digital and don’t have the necessary equipment for film and slides.

Can you copy old snapshots and photos not protected by copyright?
Yes, we can scan snapshots if it's for law school use, but any photograph that has a copyright notice is protected by law and we can’t make duplicates. We will not publish out of focus or poorly taken photos.
