The fall Moot Court Final Four Competition at the UF Law is sponsored by the Orlando law firm of Zimmerman Kiser & Sutcliffe, P.A. Guest judges for this year’s competition will be Stephanie W. Ray of the Florida District Court of Appeal, T. Kent Wetherell, II of the Florida District Court of Appeal and Stephan P. Mickle of the Northern District of Florida.

UF Law Students Will Showcase Advocacy Skills to Judges

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Federal and state judges from throughout Florida will hear University of Florida law students argue First and Fourth Amendment issues in the 26th Annual Zimmerman Kiser Sutcliffe Moot Court Final Four competition September 9 at 10 a.m. in the Martin H. Levin Advocacy Center courtroom at the UF Levin College of Law.

The Final Four competition is the culmination of the Florida Moot Court Team tryout process, where the top four competitors display their oral advocacy skills.

The top four competitors, Danielle Grundt, Amy Podolsky, Kelsey Veitengruber, Brandon White and alternate Dylan Shea, along with 13 other competitors are the newest members of the Florida Moot Court Team, governed by the Justice Campbell Thornal Executive Board.

“The Florida Moot Court team is excited to host the 26th Annual Zimmerman Kiser Sutcliffe Moot Court Final Four competition,” said Leigh Anne Siddle, president of the Florida Moot Court Team. “Between the distinguished panel of judges and our eloquent group of competitors, this exhibition will display the full range of talents of our team.”

The judging panel will include: Judge Monterey “Buddy” Campbell, Florida 2nd District Court of Appeal; Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington, Middle District of Florida; Judge James S. Moody, Middle District of Florida and Judge Paul C. Huck, Southern District of Florida.

The 26th Annual Zimmerman Kiser Sutcliffe Moot Court Final Four competition is free and open to the public. 28th annual Maguire Appellate Advocacy Competition

The University of Florida Levin College of Law will welcome a distinguished panel of judges for the 28th annual Maguire Appellate Advocacy Competition in the Martin H. Levin Advocacy Center courtroom.

This year’s panel includes Senior United States District Judge William Terrell Hodges, from the Middle District of Florida; the First District Court of Appeal’s Stephane W. Ray; United States Magistrate Judge Thomas B. Smith from the Middle District of Florida; and the First District Court of Appeal’s Bradford L. Thomas.
