<p>&#8220;Between a Rock and a Hard Place: U.S. Tax Policy Responses to Looming Fiscal Crisis&#8221; will be the topic of the second installment of the Ellen Bellet Gelberg Tax Policy Lecture Series. The lecture will feature three prominent Washington, D.C. attorneys discussing the nation&#8217;s debt and deficit crisis: Lindy Paull (JD 79, LL.M. 80) of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Eric Solomon of Ernst &amp; Young LLP and Hap Shashy of Dewey &amp; LeBoeuf LLP.</p>

<p>Pulitzer Prize winner David Cay Johnston will deliver the lecture, “How Our 20<sup>th</sup> Century Tax System is Making Us Poorer.” Johnston was the tax reporter for <em>The New York Times</em> from 1995 through 2008, winning the Pulitzer in 2001 for beat reporting. He is currently a distinguished visiting lecturer at Syracuse University College of Law and a columnist for Reuters on Tax Policy Issues.</p>

<p>The University of Florida Levin College of Law&#8217;s Graduate Tax Program will hold its seventh annual International Tax Law Symposium on Oct. 7 in the Chesterfield Smith Ceremonial Classroom, HOL 180, at UF Law from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.</p>
<p>The speakers this year will be:</p>
<p>Michael Lang, professor and director of the LL.M. Program in International Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.</p>
<p>Neil Brooks, professor of law and director of the Graduate Tax Program at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in Toronto.</p>
<p>J. Clifton Fleming, the Ernest L. Wilkinson Chair and Professor of Law at Brigham Young University Law School.</p>
<p>Robert Peroni, the Fondren Foundation Centennial Chair for Faculty Excellence and Professor of Law at University of Texas School of Law.</p>
