Application Instructions
NOTE: Applicants must apply to both the University of Florida Office of Admissions AND the UF College of Law. You may apply online to the Admissions Office, but you also must print and mail a second copy of the application form along with the materials to the College of Law (address below). Be sure to keep a copy for your records.
Listed below are two options for applying to the LL.M. in Comparative Law Program.
Preferred Method
Apply online: This link will bring you to the Web site for the Office of Admissions of the University of Florida. With the online application, you will be assigned a student ID number, which must be written on all supporting documents sent to the University of Florida Admissions Office. Please note: This is the most expedient method of applying for admission.
- Click on "Graduate," select "Apply-New Applicant," then click "Continue."
- Begin to fill out the online application.
- When asked to "Select Degree," selec the category of "Mater's Degree."
- When asked to "Select a Program of Study," scroll down to "Law" and choose "Comparative Law."
- Continue to complete the online application.
- Send a copy of the application form and all supporting documents to the LL.M. Comparative Law Office, using regular mail or the express mail address listed below:

Contact the LL.M. Program to inform us that you have submitted your application online at llmcomp@law.ufl.edu. We will send you an e-mail to confirm receipt of your application at the law school.
Alternative Method
- Go online to http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/forms.html, choose the form "Graduate Application for International Students." Fill out the PDF form of the application, "Select Text" in the Acrobat toolbar. When you are finished, click "Print." If your form will not print after you click "Print," click the "Advanced" button and check "Print as image" to print the form.
- Send the application and supporting materials to:

Supporting Documents
All students must submit the following documents to be considered for admission:
- A completed application form (either online or by mail)
- An official transcript in both the original language and an official English translation from all education institutions.
- Official Degrees or diplomas in the original language and an official English translation.
- TOEFL examination report with a minimum score of 600 overall (250 for computer-based test or 100 for the Internet-based test).
- "Application Fee Cover" form, with a nonrefundable $30 bank check in U.S. dollars payable to the University of Florida (if applying online, this fee may be paid by credit card).
- Two letters of recommendation from law professors or other references commenting in detail on scholastic and professional qualifications. Letters must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation.
- Completed "Certificate of Financial Responsibility" form. Follow directions for the submission of this form as stated online.
- Personal statement/proposed study plan.
Application Deadline
Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Admission decisions will begin to be made, on a rolling basis, in January. While the LL.M. in Comparative Law Program has no absolute deadline for applications, no guarantee of consideration is possible for applications that have not been completed by April 30.
