Tuition and Expenses

Tuition for the Comparative Law Program for the 2010-2011 academic year is $546.22 per credit for Florida residents and $1,191.71 per credit for non-residents.

Although expenses can vary considerably, the College of Law estimates that students can anticipate expenses in addition to tuition of about $15,080.00 per year, as follows:

Linkage Institute Programs

The state of Florida has established linkage institute programs for several countries and regions. A limited number of well-qualified students who are citizens of "linkage" countries are permitted to pay resident tuition rather than non-resident tuition for a specified number of credit hours. Linkage programs currently exist for the following countries and regions: Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, China, Costa Rica, Eastern Europe, France, Israel, Japan, Mexico and West Africa.

Latin American-Caribbean Scholarships

Students from Latin America and the Caribbean may qualify for a partial scholarship to be used to pay a portion of their tuition. In addition, students who receive the scholarship will quality for in-state tuition. For details, see the International Student web page for Latin American-Caribbean Scholarships.
(Please be advised that only one scholarship remains funded for the current fiscal year and none are funded for future terms.)

Computer Requirement

UF policy requires all new students to have access to, and on-going use of a computer in order to complete a degree program successfully. Competency in the basic use of a computer is a requirement for graduation. Current recommendations are available on the Technology Services Web site.

Insurance

Prior to registration at the University of Florida, all foreign students must purchase health and accident insurance. Upon acceptance into the LL.M. in Comparative Law Program, additional information regarding this insurance will be sent by the UF International Center.

Housing

Most College of Law students live in off-campus apartments. Information about on-campus and off-campus housing can be obtained from the University of Florida Division of Housing, P.O. Box 112110, Gainesville, Fla., 32611. Please do no sign a lease to rent an apartment/house before contacting the LL.M. in Comparative Law office.
