Graduate Tax Program Announcements

International Taxation Symposium

On Sept. 11, 2009, the Graduate Tax Program will welcome distinguished members of the tax community to present the Fifth Annual International Taxation Symposium at the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Presenters, Prof. dr. Irene Burgers, Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business; John F. Avery Jones, Special Commissioner of Income Tax; and Professor Lily Kahng, Seattle University School of Law.

The Symposium will be held in RM 180 beginning at 8:30 a.m.

This event is open to faculty, students, alumni and practitioners. Please contact the Tax Office if you are interested in attending and need additional information.

An Informative Talk on Circular 230

The Graduate Tax Program welcomes back Adjunct Professor Sam Ullman, a partner at Bilzin, Sumberg, Baena, Price & Axelrod in Miami, Florida. Professor Ullman will make a presentation on Circular 230 on Wednesday, November 4th at 3:00 PM in Room 355C. Circular 230 governs the practice of attorneys, accountants and others before the Internal Revenue Service, and it is essential that tax lawyers be familiar with the scope and the requirements of Circular 230.

The Annual Legal Ethics in Taxation Workshop

The Graduate Tax Program will welcome back guest speakers: Samuel Ullman, Bilzin, Sumberg, Baena, Price & Axelrod, Miami; Lauren Detzel, Dean, Mead, Egerton, et al., Orlando; and Michael Lampert, The Forum, West Palm Beach, for the Annual Legal Ethics in Taxation Workshop. Date of workshop TBA.
