Mayanne Downs (JD 87) Downs is president-elect of The Florida Bar. When she becomes president on July 1, she’ll be the first female UF Law graduate ever to serve as president, and the fourth woman president in the history of the Bar.
Vanessa Buchko (JD 91) Buchko finds satisfaction as the only fulltime attorney with AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly/Project HELP, which provides the home bound, low-income elderly with free legal aid.
The Hon. Joseph Smith (JD 68) Smith, though recently retired as Levy County Judge, has found serving his community as a judge to be profoundly satisfying. He’s seen a lot of change in Florida’s court system during the course of his 40-year legal career.
Cathryn Mitchell (JD 88) Mitchell has a diverse, international clientele. She strongly recommends students having a varied work experience out of law school instead of specializing right away in order to figure out what is best for them.
Preston Robertson (JD90) In his professional life as the vice president for conservation and general counsel of the Florida Wildlife Federation, Robertson works to promote ethical recreation and preservation of Florida’s natural lands and wildlife.
