All required application components as detailed below must be received by the completion deadline to be considered for visiting student status.
UF Law Visitor Application and $30 application fee
Apply electronically via LSAC.org to submit your application. Please note that the $30 application fee will be waived only for LSAC fee-waived candidates upon submission of the LSAC online application. Your personal statement and resume should be submitted via the LSAC online application. If admitted, visitor applicants will also be required to complete the university’s online, non-degree application for the university at no additional cost.
Personal Statement
Your personal statement is different from your incoming 1L personal statement. It should focus primarily on your law school academic experience and career goals and explain why you wish to become a visiting student at UF Law. The statement should not exceed two, double-spaced pages and should be in a font no smaller than 12 points.
Resume
Please ensure that your resume contains specific information about your education, awards, extracurricular and community activities, and employment.
Letter of Permission and Good Standing
Visiting applicants must submit a letter from the Dean of Students or equivalent of their home institution granting the applicant permission to attend UF Law. This letter must:
- state that the student has permission to attend UF Law as a visiting student;
- set forth the permitted dates of attendance;
- state any parameters set on the number of credits or courses the student may take at UF Law;
- certify that the student is in good standing; and
- certify that the home institution will apply the credits earned at UF Law to the student’s degree from the home institution.
Transcript
The preferred method for transcript submission is via the LSAC CAS. Please note that the LSAC can take several weeks to process and send your transcript to us, so you are encouraged to plan your transcript submission method accordingly to meet our application completion deadline.
You may also request that your current law school send us your transcript directly, either electronically or by mail. UF Law only accepts transcripts transmitted electronically via eSCRIPT-SAFE, AVOW (Parchment), or National Student Clearinghouse transcript services. Character & Fitness, if applicable
Before responding to application question 10, please review the Character and Fitness section of the College of Law website. Applicants answering yes to any of the Character and Fitness quesions must submit an addendum detailing the incident(s) along with official documentation related to the incident(s).
