Why You Chose UF Law:  I chose UF Law – despite being an FSU fan – because I knew the power of Florida’s alumni network. I had heard that Florida’s alumni base is large and loyal and helps place students with jobs. This certainly turned out to be true for me. I got my job through the Office of Career Development’s on-campus interviews (OCI). I’ve learned since that several firms I interviewed with at OCI interview exclusively at UF Law or strongly prefer UF Law graduates. I think this is because many of the hiring attorneys are alumni of the school and because of the school’s great reputation. Plus, on a more basic level, Gainesville is a relatively central location that employers all over the state can easily access. Since graduation, I have now seen, too, how the Gator Nation provides you with this great connection to others. No matter where you end up after graduation, you will find friends in those who graduated from UF Law.

Why Someone Should Apply to UF Law: I would recommend applying to UF Law because I do not think my experience is unique. UF Law is a great school with a wonderful reputation. Not only will you receive a solid education, but you will graduate with a highly respected degree.

Advice for Incoming Law Students: My advice would be to do your best. The first two semesters have a big impact on where you end up because those are the only grades you will have when you’re applying for internships, and your internship may be where you get a job. That being said, you can’t do your best if you’re too stressed out. Seek balance. Have some fun and try to exercise. You’ll be better off for it. That has been my experience anyway!
