Tax Law

UF Law’s Tax Program outpaces law schools throughout the nation, ranking first among public law schools and third among all law schools. Our world-renowned tax faculty teaches a broad range of courses in corporate taxation, income taxation, partnership taxation, and estate and gift tax, among others. We also regularly host tax experts to present guest lectures, allowing you to network with some of the leading tax attorneys and faculty in the world. Want hands-on experience? Bolster your classroom study by joining our Tax Moot Court team, which competes in national and international competitions.

Environmental Law

Internationally recognized environmental law scholars in our Environmental and Land Use Law Program teach courses in energy law, climate change, environmental law, conservation law and marine and coastal law. As an environmental law student, you can immerse yourself in contemporary environmental legal issues by participating in our Conservation Clinic or by joining the Environmental Moot Court team. Want to study the ecoregions shared by South Florida and the Bahamas? Our spring break field course creates an opportunity for you to examine the challenges facing our natural resources and to learn from leading environmental and land use law experts in the field.

Business and Entrepreneurship

Interested in corporate law and technology or planning to start a business? Our preeminent faculty train you for a wide range of transactional and entrepreneurial careers through courses on corporate entities, business transactions, document drafting, liability insurance, mergers and acquisitions, electronic discovery, copyright and patents – to name a few. In 2014, we strengthened our business area with the addition of Professor Robert Rhee, an expert in LLCs, financial regulation, private equity funding and investment banking. We also offer a foreign enrichment course on business and legal environments in Europe, a practicum in entrepreneurship and a seminar in privacy, data breaches and cybersecurity. Our supportive global alumni network – consisting of attorneys, entrepreneurs and CEOs – will also help you build your network and connect you to nearly any industry you plan to pursue.

International Law

A basic understanding of international and comparative law principles is increasingly important for today’s lawyers. At UF Law, we recognize this need and have assembled a globally recognized faculty to teach a gamut of international and comparative law courses, including international business transactions, international human rights, international environmental law and international organizations. Want to study abroad? We offer several ABA-approved exchange programs in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Israel and Brazil Not only will our faculty help shape your international law career, but studying at UF Law will connect you with one of the largest alumni networks of 20,000+ lawyers practicing across the nation and in more than 30 countries.

Access to Justice

Our world-class faculty also teach courses that enrich your understanding of economic, political and social issues and help prepare you to advocate for social change. At UF Law you can study criminal law, police practices, constitutional law, First Amendment law, poverty law, family law, property rights, feminist legal theory, race relations & the law, and many other courses about the most pressing issues of our time. Our Center for Governmental Responsibility is a legal research and public policy mecca that trains students to become leaders and contributors in the community. Through these courses and hands-on training in our clinics and centers, we help you gain a deeper understanding of issues facing our local and global communities in order to better ensure access to justice for all citizens.
