Domestic Violence

Course Number: LAW 6930 Credits: 2

This is a substantive law course in domestic violence. It is a two-credit class, meeting twice a week for two hours each class. The first hour will consist of discussion based on assigned readings. The second hour will include a guest speaker, whenever possible. The course is required for those students doing simultaneous domestic violence externships and is open to others. The book is Domestic Violence Law, 2nd Edition, by Nancy K.D. Lemon, American Casebook Series, West Group, supplemented with relevant Florida cases and supplemental readings. The class will be letter-graded, on the mandatory curve. Grade will be based on a take-home exam consisting of a domestic violence situation that needs to be addressed.
