Levin College of Law

Dean’s Note | October 2022

Dear Alumni and Friends,

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.  We extend our thoughts to members of the Gator Law Nation who were affected by the destruction of Hurricane Ian.

The semester is well underway at Florida Law, and we have welcomed many new students and faculty to our campus.  Our new 1Ls boast a median LSAT of 169 and a median GPA of 3.90.  They represent 85 undergraduate institutions and join us from 38 states and 12 countries.  33% of these students identify as racially and ethnically diverse, and 30 of them identify as first-generation college students.  You may learn more about these amazing students here.  We also welcomed more than 80 new students to our Tax program, bringing our total LLM and SJD enrollment to nearly 120.

These new students join 11 new full-time professors and 6 new visiting faculty members.  You may explore the full list I shared over the summer.  We also have a robust lineup of scholars and leaders joining us for workshops and conferences from across the country.  You may explore the list of events here.

Finally, we join the rest of the university in celebrating the end of a successful Go Greater campaign, which raised a total of $4.5 billion.  We extend our deepest gratitude to our donors who helped the law school double its $50 million goal to reach $105 million.  Thank you for helping Florida Law achieve true excellence!

Enjoy your week!
