Open Classroom: Arbitration and Negotiation

The University of Florida Levin College of Law Institute for Dispute Resolution presents a four session Open Classroom, presented by Senior Legal Skills Professor Joan Sterns Johnsen. This event will consist of four sessions with two hours of arbitration in the morning and two hours of negotiation in the afternoon. Please join for as many class sessions as your schedule allows. Session 1 (10:00-11:00 ET) Professor Imre Szalai, Loyola University of New Orleans will provide a recap of major arbitration decisions from the last U.S. Supreme Court Term with special focus on Viking River Cruises, Inc. v. Moriana. Session 2 (11:00-12:00 ET) Professor Homer LaRue of Howard University School of Law will discuss the new virtual arbitration environment and how to effectively adapt advocacy skills. Session 3 (4:00-5:00 ET) David Hoffman, John. H. Watson Jr. Lecturer at Harvard Law School and founder of Boston Law Collaborative, will speak on “Internal Families Systems,” dealing with high conflict personalities in all contexts. Finally, Session 4 (5:00-6:00 ET) Leslie O’Neal of Brassfield Gorrie and Larry Watson of Upchurch Watson, plus other talented practitioners, will explore “Guided Choice,” the new approach to resolving disputes that combines various processes to suit the matters at hand.
