About

Madeleine Sligh is the Associate Director of the Immigration Law Clinic and a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She joined the University of Florida after six years at the United States Department of Justice in the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). During her time at the DOJ, she served as an Attorney Advisor, and before that a Judicial Law Clerk, at immigration courts in San Antonio, Texas, New York, New York, and Miami, Florida. Her role primarily consisted of drafting judicial decisions on the issues of removability, eligibility for relief from removal, and for deportability or exclusion cases. In 2019, she won the EOIR Director’s Award for her work on the Motions Project in San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, from 2023-2025, she worked at EOIR’s Office of General Counsel (OGC), where she analyzed and processed complex Freedom of Information Act requests. During her time at OGC, she was nominated for the 2024 Director’s Award. Previously she worked for the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and the U.S. Department of State.
