Author Chris Resto Presents Strategies for Getting Hired
Chris Resto, who has worked as a recruiting consultant for employers and has advised college students on making themselves marketable employees, visited the Levin College of Law on Sept. 25 to share his tips with University of Florida students. He emphasized key qualities that employers look for in new hires: passion/energy, leadership, teamwork, communications skills, entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, critical thinking / analytical skills, self-motivation, tech savvy, resourcefulness and integrity. He also emphasized the importance of self-awareness, networking and flexibility when applying for and beginning a new job. Resto’s presentation provided students with an overview of the knowledge and experience that led him, along with co-authors Ian Ybarra and Ramit Sethi, to write Recruit or Die: How any Business Can Beat the Big Guys in the War for Young Talent. Following the presentation, Resto joined students at an outdoor reception where he addressed questions and concerns about the job application and recruiting process.
