GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The jury’s verdict is expected today in the Casey Anthony trial in Orlando. University of Florida Levin College of Law faculty are available to offer their expertise on the jury’s conclusion.

Anthony is charged with murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2008. The case has captured the nation’s attention and continues to unfold as the defense argues that Caylee Anthony’s death was from an accidental drowning and that Casey Anthony’s father helped cover it up. The prosecution contends that Casey Anthony suffocated Caylee Anthony by placing duct tape over her mouth and nose. Officials were unable to determine an official cause of death in the case.

Michael Seigel – UF Research Foundation Professor of Law Michael Seigel has specialized in criminal law for more than 20 years. He has also served as a federal prosecutor on the Organized Crime Strike Force in Philadelphia and as a first assistant United States attorney in Florida. Seigel was also recently named as director of UF Law’s new Criminal Justice Clinic and certificate program.

Jennifer Zedalis – UF Law Legal Skills Professor Jennifer Zedalis has 28 years of experience as a criminal lawyer and is a member of the Executive Council for Criminal Law section of The Florida Bar. Zedalis has been a legal skills professor at UF since 2002, and is currently the director of the Trial Practice Program and is the faculty adviser for the UF Law Trial Team.

George “Bob” Dekle – UF Law Legal Skills Professor Bob Dekle began practicing law in Florida since 1973 and specializes in all aspects of criminal law. Dekle has been involved in a variety of criminal cases, most notably as the prosecutor of one of the most notorious serial killers in recent times, Ted Bundy.
