UF Law’s Vis Moot Team Excels in Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition in Vienna
A first-place team finish and a Second Best Oralist award to Paul Punzone at The Florida Bar Pre-Moot in Miami in February helped secure UF Law a spot in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Competition in Vienna, Austria, last week.
This year’s team advanced to the round of 64 out of more than 320 schools. UF Law students won high accolades for their advocacy as well. Ashlyn Robinson (JD 17) won in a three-way tie for Best Oralist and Paul Punzone (JD 17) and David Mittel (JD 17) won Honorable Mention in the Best Oralist category. Also making significant contributions to UF Law’s success were Garrison Cohen (JD 17) and student coach, Ali Mirghahari (JD 17).
This is the second consecutive year that UF Law students have placed in the best oralist and honorable mention categories, while also advancing to the single elimination round.
The 24th annual Vis competition was held April 7-13 at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna.
